About Me
Hello and hola sunnies! My name is Mya. I am an intentional and passionate birth doula. In my free time you can find me taking morning runs and walking my dog. I also practice yoga for enjoyment and regularly play my singing bowls for meditation. My favorite app is Notes and I have poems dating back to 2015!
From an early age I knew I wanted to care for people, especially for those who feel as though they do not have a voice. I am happy to be an advocate, a shoulder to cry on, a hand to squeeze, and an overall support person. I come from a family of strong and nurturing women and to be able to share that experience would be a pleasure.
I am studying Public Health at the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a minor in Spanish and Nutrition. My goal is to obtain a Masters in Nutrition. Maternal and infant health is a major public health issue that I am passionate about and spend many hours researching. By being a doula, my aspiration is to make a difference in a birthing person's birth experiences by providing a safe and communicative environment. Knowledge is power. Let me answer questions and provide information for a safe birth YOUR way. You're the sun in your birth and the experience revolves around choices made by you, for you.
Services
Virtual Support
Available over Zoom, FaceTime, call, text, and email for any questions and consistent support. During this time I am willing to work with different comfortabilities of social distancing.
Home Visits
I am willing and able to travel and provide hands on support. For example we can practice different birth positions and comforting techniques. Can also care for other small children (if you have any) and help elevate any other worries while you relax.
Birth Doula
Will help create a birth plan, attend at least 2 prenatal visits, attend the birth and of course be available the times in between to offer resources, support, and be an advocate.
